Welcome to the Laboratory for Integrated Multiscale Mechano-Biological Systems (LIMMBS). We are part of the Pharmacology Department at Stony Brook University. Our focus is on multiscale mechanobiology in health and disease, from molecular to multicellular levels. Mechanics is critical in proper tissue organization and function, and dysregulated mechanics can lead to diseased states such as the metastatic progression of cancer and tissue fibrosis. We aim to better understand these phenomena through integrated approaches involving tissue engineering, microfluidics, computational modeling, and novel experimental systems.
We further develop novel biofabrication and bioprinting methods to build mechanobiological systems, including ultra-realistic and functional tissues and mini-organs, with applications toward advanced disease modeling and regenerative medicine. See our research page for more details.
